Benson Boone - Mystical Magical (after 12 weeks)

Debuts:

AJR debuts with their first song since Yes I'm A Mess in 2023/2024. This reminds me too much of a song I hate, I'm Ready, for me to really enjoy it, but it doesn't have the annoying parts in here that I'm Ready has so it's overall good.

Justin Bieber makes his grand, or not so grand, return with Daisies. This grew on me slightly but I still can't really get into this. It's too slow and unlike the Justin Bieber I know and love for me to enjoy.

Blackpink also make their grand return with Jump. Again, I like this and it did grow on me but it still has some more growing on me to do before I can officially say I love it.

Finally for the song I didn't talk about last week. Olivia Dean debuts out of nowhere with Nice To Each Other. This is cute, I like this. It's kind of underwhelming but it's not terrible. I don't love it yet but I might soon. I'm not disappointed in this!

HitBound

Alessi Rose - That Could Be Me [6]
Alex Warren - Eternity [Debut]
PinkPantheress - Illegal [3]
Jonas Brothers - I Can’t Lose [Debut]
Conan Gray - Vodka Cranberry [2]
KATSEYE - Gabriela [2]
jasontheween feat. d4vd - Summer Uptown [2]
Jessie Murph - 1965 [Debut]
Thomas Day - She Got A Thing About Her [2]
Renee Rapp - Why Is She Still Here? [Debut]
Alessi Rose - Everything Anything [Debut]
flowerovlove - new friends [4]
Maroon 5 - California [Debut]
mgk - vampire diaries [2]
Haven Madison - Castle [4] {Re-Entry}
People R Ugly - Better [3]

My Prediction Scorecard:
4 points = Exact right position (Debut/Re-Entry)
3 points = I predict a song staying in HitBound in the right position
2 points = I got the debut or re-entry right, but it didn't debut in the correct position
1 point = for each exit I predict / I predict the number of entrants correctly.

Recap:
I predicted 5 of 7 exits correctly, so I get 5 points there.
I predicted 4 of the 6 debuts correctly, so I get 8 points.
The only song from HitBound last week that I predicted the exact spot for was mgk's vampire diaries, so 3 points there.
And I get 4 points for putting Eternity as the 2nd song of the show.

5+8+3+4 = 20. A perfection would've been 69 points here, so I was 29% correct.

Wow, we got another 6 debuts and a re-entry, so let's see what we got this week.

Let's get the re-entry out of the way. Castle by Haven Madison re-enters after 3 weeks off Hit-Bound. I guess this makes sense since it is almost top 20 on pop radio. Anyways, I usually love Haven Madison but this is too uninteresting for me to enjoy. It also doesn't help that this a complete radio plant. Like seriously, 200k streams on Spotify and (almost) top 20 on Pop???? If you want a good Haven Madison song, check out her new song Anybody that just released, It's sooooo much better.

Going from worst to best, we start with Maroon 5, who I normally like but this new era is so lackluster. All Night (which Hits 1 didn't pick up for whatever reason) was good, but Priceless sucks and so does this. Remember when I said Castle was uninteresting? Well this is that times a thousand. and it's also too short to be a good ballad anyways. Like, 2:16? C'mon Maroon 5, You can do better.

Renee Rapp is another artist I usually like, but her new song Why Is She Still Here? is the Snow Angel of this new era and as I didn't really care for Snow Angel, I don't really care for this either. Renee sounds good but this is too boring for me to enjoy.

The Jonas Brothers are another artist I usually like and while this isn't too bad, it's kind of generic and forgettable and too much so that I can't really enjoy it. Still, the brothers here sound good.

Alessi Rose gets not one but two songs on Hit-Bound at the same time, with That Could Be Me staying in and now this new song Everything Anything debuting. I like this, but it won't beat or even come close to Same Mouth, which is probably my favorite Alessi song Hits 1 has picked up.

We can finally get to the songs I like. Alex Warren released his new debut album 'You'll Be Alright, Kid' and while Eternity is only the 6th best of the first disc, It's still amazing and I really want to see debut the countdown, and not get robbed like Bloodline. Like many Alex songs, the bridge is by far the best part of this song. But overall, the production is really cool, especially in the bridge, and I hope to see Alex go to great places soon, because he really deserves way more success and not fall in to the ether after Ordinary. If you want a more upbeat Alex Warren song, you should listen to The Outside and You Can't Stop This. Both are great.

Okay, from the best song to the funniest song. Jessie Murph gets her *checks notes* 14th song on Hits 1 with '1965', because Hits 1 really needs to pick up every song of hers. and while 1965 isn't her best song, it's definitely her funniest. I would hate it if the lyrics weren't so hilariously bad that it makes the song itself great. Because, y'know, I might get a little slap slap, but you wouldn't hit me on Snapchat. Oh, and You wouldn't drive off before you get in the fucking door you fuck fuck- fuck youuuuu (pardon my language). So yeah, with that and the TV airings at the beginning of the song, Idk this is a HUGE guilty pleasure for me. Of course, it's just going to drop out of Hit-Bound anyways, so I shouldn't get my hopes up.

Exits

Kpop Demon Hunters Cast - Golden [3]
Renee Rapp - Mad [3]
Kehlani - Folded [3]
Super-HI feat. Neeka - Following The Sun [6]

Golden finds itself in the abyss. Mad gets replaced by Why Is She Still Here?, Folded I didn't care about. and Following The Sun shouldn't have been here in the first place since it's from 2021 and had no traction elsewhere.

Weeks Passed: 29
Current Dropout Count: 110
Dropouts Per Week: 3.79
Estimated total: 197 (is this right???) (+1)

Blurbzizam:

We lost two bottom 5 staples: Nokia and 30 for 30. I'll leave the obituary for both of these for Ethan to post. But we also lost Abracadabra and Anxiety, and in the case of the former, after 23 weeks and 6 of those at #1. Anxiety also did well, with 17 weeks total and a peak of #6.

Can they make up their mind on Just Keep Watching? It was +13 three weeks ago, then last week it fell 11, and now it jumped back 10. It's a great song, don't flip flop it.

We also saw big jumps from Alex Warren and Rose's On My Mind along with Benson Boone's Mystical Magical

And we got a new #1, and no it's not Manchild. It's Azizam, bringing Ed Sheeran his first #1 since Overpass Graffiti in early 2022. This probably won't stay at #1 for long, but we'll see.

Poll of the week results:

Role Model - Sally, When The Wine Runs Out
62.5% (5 votes)

Sabrina Carpenter - Manchild
12.5% (1 votes)

Jonas Brothers - Love Me To Heaven
12.5% (1 votes)

Miley Cyrus - End Of The World
12.5% (1 votes)

Ed Sheeran - Azizam
0% (0 votes)

That's all the blogging for now, See you for my Pulse Top 15 post later this morning (or afternoon)!
