☆ Debuts

Holy goodness, FIVE DEBUTS (plus a terrible re-entrant). Let's just get through them all.

So Olivia Rodrigo gets her first debut of 2024, and it's a song from The Hunger Games: Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes. Now, if you've heard Hunger Games songs before, they all have a very distinct sound. Very ominous, haunting, and the lyrics are all very unique. Sure, 'Can't Catch Me Now' is just your typical Hunger Games song, but that's what makes it amazing. I don't like movies, but I'm actually interested in the new Hunger Games movie. I really am. So yeah, this is really cool. It's slow, but it progresses unlike *other* slower songs. Good job, Olivia, and good job Radio for not leaving this unnoticed!

Knox makes his Top 50 debut, and this song is called, I'm not even kidding, "Not The 1975". Really clever. And it even references two 1975 songs ('Oh, Caroline' and 'Chocolate'). This has your standard production of a cheesy guitar rock song, but the lyrics are what makes it work. I really like his songwriting, and even the production doesn't suck like it could've. It works really well, and I can't wait to see more Knox and/or Not The 1975 to SMASH!

P.S. Check out "Here's To Us" which releases January 19th!

K-Pop Boy Band NCT Dream also makes their Top 50 Debut, and this is actually a remix that features JVKE, who you might know from "Golden Hour". I can't lie, Golden Hour is amazing even though all his other stuff sucks. But not this! NCT Dream sound really good here, JVKE does too, and although it's slightly generic, it's still cool. I like it.

Måneskin are back for the first time since i believe "Supermodel" from summer of 2022. I prefer "The Loneliest" much more, I still wish that got big. But, this is still nice, albeit pretty standard for them. I don't really have much else to say about "Honey (Are You Coming?)", but I do like it at least.

Hey, I heard you wanted a collaboration between JAAAAAAAASOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN DERUUUUUUUUUUUULOOOOOOOOOO and Meghan Trainor! Wait, You didn't? Well, Too bad! Aaaaand, just as i guess. This absolutely sucks. The Doo-Wop sound can get really overused, and in Meghan's case, well, she uses it in LITERALLY every song. And, to add insult to injury, this samples a classic from Ben E. King. And it takes up the whole song. Like, why? WHY? DID? WE? NEED? THIS?. Anyways, next!

And last, but hopefully not least, is a song I've never heard before from Lawrence. Yeah, them. The "Don't Lose Sight" duo. I absolutely adored that. This is a step down, but, it still actually slaps. The lyrics are really cool, and the production is kinda just there, but it's still great. So, Keep!

☆ She said "I like your blurbs, but you're not The 1975"

It's really nice to see Victoria Monét finally get the hit she deserves.

It's really nice to see Noah Kahan finally get another hit he totally deserves.

I've really grown into Fix This. ALOT. It's now my favorite song out of all the 50 songs. I just love it that much.

I also really like "Water" by Tyla, and somehow the Marshmello remix of it slaps even more.

If you have anything else you want me to add, or suggestions or albums you want me to review, let me know in the comments.

That's all for now! Thanks for reading! appreciate it!
